We cover the following topics, whereby the most weight is given to going through several personal statement drafts:
- Creating a top-quality personal statement
- discussing your profile and professors' expectations
- determining relevant parts of your profile for the personal statement, and creating a fitting structure

- Liaising with the referee to ensure a convincing reference letter
- Discussing expectations of admissions tutors with the referee
- Giving feedback on the reference letter with potential changes if necessary
- Translating the reference letter if requested by the teacher
- Completing the UCAS application form to avoid mistakes and optimally present the candidate
- how to list school grades to suit the application format and highlight special strenghts
- how to list past schooling and other education/certifications
- selecting the correct fee status and similar formalities
- Any additional questions you have during this phase of the application cycle
Additional materials: You will receive additional materials as required, for example sample personal statements, reading lists of relevant course materials, information videos and links for further information.
One-on-one tutoring:
- Each applicant is allotted one (or two) tutors who are alumni in the subject and/or university of choice of the applicant. For example, a maths applicant to Cambridge will be matched with a maths alumnus from Cambridge University; a philosophy applicant to Oxford receives an alumnus philosopher from Oxford; and an economics candidate to Edinburgh University will also receive an economics alumnus tutor, albeit potentially an Oxford-educated (rather than Edinburgh-educated) one.
- Tutorials usually take place via Skype. This allows tutoring to take place flexibly and if necessary at short notice when the applicant requires help. The online contact also makes sure we can match the best tutor to the applicant - many of our tutors reside in the UK, US and Germany, for example.
- The all-inclusive nature of the tutoring ensures that applicants receive the attention necessary at each step of the application, rather than there being a rigid number of hours allotted to each application step irrespective of candidate needs.
Initial consultation: The first personal consultation with us is free. This allows us to get an impression of your profile and who a suitable tutor would be, and gives you the chance to find out more about the tutoring, ask the questions you already have about the application and get a sense for whether it would be a good fit! Please email katharina@oxbridgeadmission.com or use the contact form below to book your initial consultation.
Candidate experienceWojciech from the Czech Republic applied for Aerospace Engineering in the UK and received an offer from Imperial College London, one of the most renowned institutions in the UK for engineering and science. Wojciech got personal statement support from Katharina:
Ms Kunze helped me with my UCAS personal statement and I found her help extremely useful. She didn’t just correct my grammatical mistakes, but also went through my whole essay during our Skype call. She pointed out how I can effectively use my academic achievements in my personal statement to give my universities a very good impression of myself and thus make my statement more effective. |
